Everything you should know about how route.doctor operates, how it earns money, and what relationships it has with any organisation mentioned on this site.
Why this page exists
Most advisory services in this market do not publish a disclosure page. Those that do bury the relevant information in terms and conditions written to be read by lawyers rather than by families making important decisions.
This page exists because we believe you have a right to know — in plain language — exactly how route.doctor makes money, who we have relationships with, and how those relationships do or do not influence what we tell you.
If anything on this page is unclear, contact us at disclosure@route.doctor and we will answer your question directly.
How route.doctor earns money
route.doctor has two sources of income and two sources only.

There are no hidden revenue streams. If this changes — for any reason, in any form — this page will be updated immediately with the date of the change.
University relationships
route.doctor has no commercial relationship with any university in its database or any university outside its database.
"No university has paid to be included. No university has paid for a higher score."
Universities are evaluated using our published methodology applied identically to every institution. A university that contacts us to request a higher score receives the same response as a university that has never heard of us: the score reflects the data, and the data reflects publicly verifiable sources.
If a university submits updated official information — new tuition fees, new accreditation status, a correction to factual data we have recorded incorrectly — we will verify the submission against official sources and update the score if the data supports an update. This is a data correction process, not a commercial arrangement.
Application service relationships
The What Happens Next page lists three application management services:
route.doctor has no financial relationship with any of these services. We receive no referral fee, no commission, no payment of any kind when a student contacts or uses any of them.
They are listed because they are the most established services in this market with the most independently verifiable track records — not because they pay us. We have assessed them as honestly as we can. We have noted their limitations as clearly as their strengths.
The What Happens Next page is an editorial resource, not an advertising page. This will not change.
Exam preparation service relationships
The exam preparation resources listed on our entrance exam overview pages and the What Happens Next page are listed on the same basis as application services — because they are the most established resources we are aware of, not because they pay us. route.doctor receives no affiliate commission, no referral fee, and no payment of any kind from any exam preparation provider listed on this site.
Advisor relationships
Every route.doctor advisor signs an independence agreement before their first consultation. This agreement states:
They receive no payment from any university, directly or indirectly
They have no financial relationship with any application service, accommodation provider, insurance company, exam preparation provider, or any other third party they may mention during a consultation
They will recommend the most suitable universities for each client based solely on that client's specific profile and needs
Any breach of this agreement is grounds for immediate termination of their relationship with route.doctor
Advisors are paid by route.doctor from the consultation fees paid by clients. They are not paid per placement, per referral, or per any outcome other than delivering the consultation itself.

Ranking methodology disclosure
The route.doctor ranking is built from publicly verifiable data. The complete methodology — every criterion, every source, every scoring scale, every update schedule — is published in full. The ranking is not paid for. No university has purchased a position. No advertiser has influenced a score.

"We are asking families to trust us with one of the most significant decisions they will make for their children. That trust has to be earned — not assumed, not claimed in marketing copy, but demonstrated through complete transparency about who we are and how we operate."
This page is that transparency. If you still have questions, ask us.
